What Sir Ken Got Wrong

This week I spoke on a TEDx-conference. TED has delivered many heroes, maybe Ken Robinson is the most famous TED-speaker, still some of his ideas are maybe great sounding, but less correct than you think (and he’s a good rewriter of Rousseau).

  1. Just a short comment. I am working on a longer reply.
I was not overly impressed by the arguments delivered in the blog you refer to. Some are just misquotations of either Robinson or his opponents. Other arguments can be taken the other way round, e.g. his mentioning William Shakespeare. Yes, he may have been in a traditional school (essentially different from modern chools, by the way). Yet, of all his classmates he was the only one to become William Shakespeare, the poet and playwright.
As far as I know, Robinson never stated that talent is enough in its own. In his book ‘The Element’ he gives several examples of highly talented people who practice very hard to develop their talents.
And what’s wrong in rewriting Rousseau?
