Interesting read: Lowering the Temperature on Claims of “Summer Learning Loss”

Alfie Kohn wrote an interesting, maybe slightly provocative blog post on summer loss, “the implication being that it’s risky to give kids a three-month vacation from school because they’ll forget everything they were taught”. There is much evidence for this, but Kohn asks us to take a look from a different perspective:

“Summer learning loss? It’s just a subset of life learning loss — when the learning was dubious to begin with.”

In the meantime, I’m enjoying summer, what about you?
