Paul Kirschner and I wrote a new chapter: Myths and Mutations

Yesterday Kate Jones announced a new book in the researchEd Guide series: The researchEd Guide to Cognitive Science. Kate asked Paul Kirschner and me if we would like to write a chapter for this book. And we said yes…

The title of our chapter is Myths and Mutations, and no, we won’t rehash the same old myths again, although the learning pyramid is mentioned. We do two things in our chapter. First, we look at grains of truth in popular learning myths, but next, we also check how present-day ‘truths’, such as retrieval practice or dual coding, can lead to mutations that are getting close to becoming new myths.

The book will be released in September 2023!
