Good read and infographic: A day in the life of a data mined kid

While discussing technology in education, privacy can be a difficult issue. Google knows, as they experienced some time ago that snoping in on educational tools isn’t appreciated. In the Netherlands there was also a small scandal when it came out that educational apps were gathering data based on the usage of their app.

The problem is that learning analytics is actually this, using data to help pupils to learn. But it’s well worth a discussion to what extent data can be gathered and more important who has access to this data and wherefore can the data be used?
