Some interesting research I read the last couple of days:

• Daniel Willingham wrote a blogpost on a new paper by Jennifer Kaminski and Vladimir Sloutsky in which they compared boring, monochromatic, abstract, bar graphs versus colorful, fun graphs that use a graphic. Surprisingly, the latter are worse for learning.
• This PhD by de Milliano investigates the literacy development of low-achieving adolescents and focuses on the role of engagement in academic reading and writing.
• This blogpost by Andrew Morton asks a maybe an awkward question: is university research good for teaching?
• And to conclude the list, did you know that female narcissistic leaders are seen as less effective than male narcissistic leaders? However, looking more closely, these lower ratings were only found when male subordinates served as raters.
