Donald Clark has written 9 good reasons why not to be a social constructivist. These are his 9 reasons, read the whole blogpost for more explanation. And do share your opinions!
1. I don’t buy Rousseau (see Rousseau)
2. I don’t buy Marxism (see Marx, Gramsci, Althusser)
3. I don’t buy Piaget (see Piaget)
4. Above all, I don’t buy Vygotsky
5. Massively inefficient
6. Damages the less privileged
7. Ignores power of solitary learning
8. Blocks evidence-based practice
9. Utopian constructivism
But what does he want? Clark only criticizes. And please read carefully what he writes about Vygotsky. What is his critique? Unfortunately I have no time do dig in this more thoroughly. I am not financial independent with a lot of time left 😉
I don’t agree that he only criticizes, although I admit he often does. In his blogpost he also pleas for evidence based education e.g. .
Btw, I’m also not financial independent and time… well, you know 😉
