In the past years, there has been a new, maybe even more personalized, math war surrounding the person of Jo Boaler. The outspoken Stanford professor has been confronted with several complaints over the past 15 years, sometimes even described by Jo Boaler as harassment.
Several posts on this blog have provided examples of mistakes and downright myths in Jo Boaler’s work. Do check, e.g. here, here and here.
But now things have gotten even more serious. There were already complaints about Boaler’s misrepresentations in her work, which she reacted to here.
Now, there is a much bigger 100-page complaint posted against Boaler. with many, many more examples of misrepresentations. I’m sure this will be continued.
It is quite remarkable that two retired professors of mathematics are putting so much effort in attacking an educational researcher. Isn’t this somewhat out of their area of expertise?
